Haitian media report 450 Salvadoran troops in Haiti searching for the four missing soldiers
Haitian newspapers Le Nouvelliste and Haïti Libre report that the Salvadoran contingent in Haiti has reached 450 troops, sent to search for the four Salvadorans missing since October 18 after a gang attack in Croix-des-Bouquets, on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. Contrapunto and Infobae carry those reports, which cite the arrival of new flights with troops. Contrapunto notes that neither the Armed Forces nor the Salvadoran government has publicly confirmed how many troops were sent, so the figure comes from the Haitian media. Contrapunto also quotes a former Haitian military commander who warns that the terrain and the gangs' resistance make the rescue difficult.
